It's time to stop thinking of your business card as just a way of giving others your contact information. There are many more uses that you can utilize when making your cards that will help increase leads and customer feedback! What other kind of information could you include on your business card? A tip? A fun fact about you? Or even better offer some sort of incentive for getting in contact with you.
Mike over at crowdspring.com has a great article on just this.. expanding your business card horizons. It's the 21st century now and as such we need to start thinking differently to get the attention of others.
Mike says that "small businesses can spend tens of thousands of dollars with direct marketing efforts that might include mailers, trade show handouts, brochures, door-hangers, coupons, product spec sheets and more. But what we don’t do is treat that little 2″x3.5″ slip of paper with our name and contact info as what it is: the best opportunity you have to market yourself or your business to a truly targeted and captive audience: the person to whom you hand it."
A few tips that he gives in this article include:
- Multitask: More than just sharing your contact info, use your card to offer discounts or coupons, event tickets, appointment cards, and more. Make it fun and creative, something that will remind them of you every time they use it.
- Drill-down: Include a QR code or SKU on your card. This can encourage the person to check out your site or receive a discount or other incentives. You can also track QR codes so you can find out if people are scanning those little black boxes!
- Educate: Use your card to teach them something about you, your business, or maybe just a fun fact that has a relation to your business. Get their brains revving and their thoughts flowing!
- Testify: Use space on your card to include awesome customer reviews you have gotten, a short story on how your business helped them, etc!
There are many great tips to think about when creating your business card! Creating a unique card with plastic is actually extremely easy!
