In 1996, Luke Lingle, a 19-year-old entrepreneur, saw an opportunity in the new business of custom printing plastic cards. Luke launched his new business, Custom Plastic Printers, in the family’s Cottage Grove, MN home.
Luke’s goal was to print the highest quality cards possible in the shortest possible time to meet their growing customers demands. The young company’s reputation for customer service and quality began to grow, as did its customer base. The young company soon outgrew the family home finding it necessary to purchase its
first building.
AMERICA BEGINS IT'S LOVE AFFAIR WITH PLASTIC CARDS
Custom printed Plastic Discount and Gift Cards changed the way the country did business and the company seized the opportunity. Many a well-intentioned gift certificate had fallen victim to the washing machine rinse cycle before ever having the chance to be redeemed. Custom plastic printed cards were clearly the wear
resistant solution.
New markets continued to develop for the company’s services, while at the same time the Internet began to gain growing acceptance as a way of doing business, Lingle quickly made the decision to utilize this new business tool and launched the company’s first website www.plasticprinters.com. Becoming Custom Plastic Printers (dba) Plasticprinters.com. This decision would change his company forever.
Plasticprinters.com expanded its custom printed plastic card offering into the areas of access and key cards for the business, hospitality and government markets, ID and employee identification programs followed. The company continued to expand its value added services in the areas of thermal printing, magnetic stripe encoding, foil stamping and embossing. In 2004 the company expanded its building to facilitate continued growth and the addition of more equipment. It was during this expansion period the company increased the size of its graphics department and added direct to plate equipment geared to increase production efficiencies while at the same time
reducing cost.

In early 2007, Plasticprinters.com moved into its new office/production facility. This strategic move has allowed the company to dramatically expand its production capability, grow the firms value added personalization and plastic card fulfillment abilities while providing room for continued growth.
